What Definition of "Hot" Are We Using?

And this is the guy that somehow made it as the #7 in People Magazine's 10 Hottest Bachelors of '09 list??

#1 Douchebag, yes. Hot Bachelor? No. If Brody Jenner, pictured above whoring for publicity after lunch at The Ivy (a place where publicity whores go because the food is mediocre at best) on Thursday, gets you all hot in the drawz, I question your sanity.

Who the hell put together that list anyway?? In case you didn't read about it on the blogosphere 3 days ago, it reads as follows:

#1. Chace Crawford. That confused and slightly angry look you probably have on your face right now is not dissimilar to the one he often has on his face every Monday on Gossip Girl. Or you might have a blank stare on your face because you don't know who he is, much less why he is number one on this list. Don't worry, he wears that look too. See, you know so much about him already!

#2. Chris Pine. I fully support this decision. I mean, Captain Kirk revamped could get it any day. Though he lost mayjah points with that dirty little Audrina Partridge stint. I'm just sayin'!

#3. Shia LaBeouf. I have loved Shia since Even Stevens, and I don't care if he has watched his parents have sex and would bang his mom. True love is bigger than incest, am i right???

#4. Adam Lambert. ::Blank Stare:: maybe if I had watched American Idol I would understand this choice. But in my meaningless opinion, Adam Lambert is not a sex symbol. Interesting? Yes. Androgynous? Very. Hottest Bachelor of '09? I even consulted my resident trannies (BUS: Bottoms United of Shadyside) on this one, and the answer was a resounding NO.

#5. Ryan Eggold and Kellan Lutz. Maybe I need to watch more TV. I don't get it.

#6. Dwayne Johnson. The ~~wrestler~~ actor formerly known as "The Rock". The brahma bull should always be on this list.

#7. Brody Jenner. You already know how I feel about this.

#8. Common. This. Is. Random. But I'll take it. The man is fine.

#9. Taylor Kitsch. Again, maybe I need to watch more TV.

#10. Rob Pattinson. Ouch. Last place. Much to the chagrin of Twihards around the world who are probably sharpening their pitchforks to murder both Chace Crawford and the person who put together this list.

But come on People, seriously, I know we could have done better than this. Overall, this list was disappointing. And random. What about Ryan Leslie? Adrian Grenier? Columbus Short? That Brody Jenner sh!t is just downright unacceptable.

Love Happens...

... just not to Jennifer Aniston. Well, at least not for very long, anyway.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not mocking her situation. After all, how many of us out there can relate to that??

But here we are, watching a trailer for yet another romantic comedy type of movie where Aniston plays the same character she always plays-- slightly neurotic thirty-something woman meets man with lots of issues and they fall in love. Happily Ever After, The End.

This is not art imitating life.

No, I'm not mocking Jennifer Aniston, she is mocking us. Her own (very public) personal life is a living testament to the cruel ironies of the fact that the women she plays in her many, many rom-coms never really get such happy endings.

Thank you Hollywood, for putting together another completely unrealistic depiction of love that will lead us to believe that one day when we meet that absolutely fabulous man who is only passing through town, we will fall in love with him and he with us and then he'll change his whole life around (or your whole life around) so that we can be together and live happily ever after. Oh, and thank you for then getting the most romantically hopeless woman in Hollywood to play that girl so that we can all weep at the realities of our own, pathetic romance-less existences.

Love Happens? No, love doesn't happen. Sh!t happens.

So I Met This Guy, Right...

It was all really rather random. We went to a party and I met him through a friend. The conversation lasted between us for no longer than 10 minutes. When he left, he gave me his number so that we could all hang out again. Nothing magical, nothing special, no hidden agendas...

One week later and I'm sitting in his loft, surrounded by his paintings, guitars, and a heap of healthy food, struggling to keep my feelings on a tight leash.

He's sweet, he's funny, he's incredibly caring, he's ruggedly handsome... And he's terribly dangerous. Dangerous, because while his mouth is promising you nothing (he said he wants to be blasé about this), his embrace, his kiss, his gaze... they're giving you everything.

Achieving certain levels of comfort and intimacy with someone who's (relatively) a complete stranger and who you know will disappear from your life soon is, quite frankly, frightening. We have such an amazing time together, but I know we also happen to be going nowhere, fast. So I'm trying hard to bind and gag my inner princess, who's love of fairytales landed her head over feet for Chicago Guy. That didn't end well. And I know that if I don't show that stupid little girl with the ribbons and the daisy chains who's boss, this won't either...

On the less depressing side of things, I can definitely see that while we may not have a romantic future (sadly), this is more than likely the beginning of a beautiful friendship. And for that, at least, I am grateful.

Of course, that made Mr. Fiasco throw a Kanye-worthy b!tch fit and embark upon a "take my sh!t down now!" crusade against the hip-hop bloggers posting the track--particularly, against his very own fan site, the LupE.N.D. blog.

Said Lupe:

"I DONT LEAK MY OWN RECORDS!!! I'M NOT A FAN OF LEAKING RECORDS OR OF DOWNLOADING!!! My entire first album leaked and possibly cost me from going platinum my first time out as the final estimates of how many people actually downloaded that album illegally was well over half a million. So how do u think i feel that everytime i come to this site where my "fans" are i see you putting up links to download my records???...I dont care about the other sites. I care about where my real fans are supposed to be active. If you come across it and you like it and keep it to yourself thats all cool with me but to make it where as other people are able to download it in a public forum is honestly an insult to me. Today Is The First Day of The Rest of My Life

I just finished my last work assignment.

This is the last day that I will swipe my card and punch in my floor number on the automatic elevators. No more sneaking to read blogs. No more blocked websites. No more side-eyes from matronly looking coworkers because I'm wearing bright colours or statement heels.

In true MissJodie fashion, I wore a little white shift dress today. Not too much of a scandal, but definitely in violation of corporate hemline rules by at least an inch. But it's a celebration, so why wouldn't I wear a party dress??

Anyway... as corny as it may sound, today is my last day as a Pittsburgh Corporate Banker, but it is the first day of the rest of my life. It's an incredibly daunting thought. I can't decide if I want to run the aisles screaming and jumping ecstatically... or puke all over my shoes. One day I'll be remembered as either the incredibly brave girl who took a chance and achieved her dreams, or the incredibly stupid girl who threw her entire life away. I don't know what tomorrow is going to bring now. I'm flying by the seat of my pants with only a shell of a plan...

But as afraid and anxious as I am, I know that this is what I have to do, and I'm ready to do it.

Walking On The Moon

About 2 months ago, I met Pharrell Williams. The Pharrell, of N*E*R*D fame. Great guy. Personality for days... And he somehow managed to light a match underneath a dream I'd given up on long before. He gave me the phone number of one of the biggest directors in hip-hop, Hype Williams... and proceeded to call him up and have a five-minute rant about how incredible he thought I was. I stood there shocked. You know when you're afraid to blink or breathe or even celebrate for fear that someone might, at any moment, snatch the moment out from beneath your feet? Yeah, it was like that.

Of course, I didn't tell anyone. With the exception of the people who were in the room to witness Pharrell jumping up and down like a kid in a candy store, no one knew what I was hoping would come next. I kept it close to my heart. I didn't tell anyone that Hype called me a few days later. I didn't tell anyone that he said he'd like to work with me. I didn't tell anyone that he'd asked me to come by and meet him once I got to LA (on a previously planned trip to see Val). I didn't want anyone's negative energy to touch what looked like the beginnings of my dream falling into place...

Long story short... Hype asked me to "come by" the studio... I thought I was simply shaking the man's hand. He hands me a Hervé Léger bathing suit and puts me in hair and makeup...

I'm still holding my breath. There's so much more that I'm hoping to accomplish, beyond a hip-hop video. I know I'll have to hustle, and jump through hoops, and take chances. But hey, I figure it's not too shabby to start my new career this way. What do you think?

Just kidding! This pic is just one of many from last night's Island Def Jam Spring Showcase. But you know that's how these corny media rumors start! Next thing you know you'll hear that Rih-Rih and Redman left together and were seen entering some obscure hotel. But anyhoo... While her talent is dubious, and her propaganda whoring might be up for debate, one thing that is unquestionable is that the girl can sell an album: Rihanna, has sold 12 million albums. Kudos to her! Next, she'll be starring in the sequel to What's Love Got To Do With It, playing herself, because no one else can master that accent and those lackluster concert performances she gives with the same finesse...

And in other news, Spencer Pratt is always on hand to provide us with a "hoe, sit down!" moment of the day. Apparently he's a rapper now. He said the following in an interview with Complex Magazine:

The Wayans men. All funny & all fine (Kim, you look great too!). And I love how they seem to be one of the few normal black Hollywood families that continue to make movies together from the production side all the way down to the cast, as they have since the days of In Living Color.

Some Pre-Lunch TV "Gossip"

In case you haven't heard...

Gossip Girl's Chace Crawford has just confirmed what the blogosphere has been buzzing about for weeks-- he will be replacing Zac Efron in the remake of Footloose. It's gonna be "more mature" and "edgy", y'all! While beautiful to look at, Chace Crawford has yet to prove his acting chops to me. That being said, yes I will put down my $12 to see him do an angry dance montage in a warehouse!
And while we're on the subject of Gossip Girl leading men, the only sex symbol on that show (as far as I'm concerned), Ed Westwick, has supposedly landed the role of Heathcliff in a big-screen adaptation of Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights. Gemma Arterton will be playing Catherine opposite Westwick. If you're on the same wavelength as me, you're probably asking yourself, Who the eff is that?? They say she was a Bond Girl. I had to google her, so unmemorable was she. I say scratch her off the cast list and hire Blair Waldorf.
The Game has been canceled. Are you surprised? The folks over at Concrete Loop seem to think it's a Black thing:
"For the record, I won’t be watching the LAME-ASS CW ever again, nor promoting any of their current or upcoming shows on Concrete Loop. They never promoted The Game or Everybody Hates Chris as much as Gossip Girl or 90210. And don’t get me started on One Tree Hill, that show is beyond garbage but always gets picked up every season. I guess picking up Tyra’s show (America’s Next Top Model) meets their black quota for the season. And don’t get me started on Girlfriends, y’all saw how they did that show."
I never watched the show myself, so I couldn't really speak on whether this had to do with ratings, the recession, or race. But I will say this: if my people tuned in to watch these positive predominantly-Black comedies as often as they tune in to watch the f*ckery that is Making the Band and College Hill, maybe those shows would have a little more longevity. Just sayin'...

Star Trek hottie Chris Pine is allegedly dating The Hills ~~wiggy ceiling-eyed character~~ tv-personality Audrina Partridge. This is extremely disappointing. Yes, I'm aware that there is a definitive possibility that I'm simply being unfair. Maybe Audrina is wildly fascinating and intelligent. Maybe MTV simply edits in her characteristic blank, empty stares. Perhaps behind those ceiling eyes she is simply pondering the origin of the species or calculating the formula for cold fusion. Or maybe, he is just as dull and empty-headed as she seems, and thus it is a match made in entertainment heaven. ::shrugs::
Beyonce doesn't think it's sexy to look like you go to the gym. Right. So just do lemon & cayenne pepper diets to achieve a 19-inch waist, like her, ya know?
Rihanna was making out with up & coming rapper, Drake all night last night, or so they say over at the NY Post's Page Six. Mind you, this is the same Page Six that reported Rihanna was snuggling up to Brody Jenner, and Wilmer Valdarrama, and her backup dancer, and whoever else her PR people think to try and link her to. I'll believe it when I see it. I'm sick of hearing about Rihanna in the press doing everything but speaking out to her young fans about teen violence and physical abuse. That's great that your stylist keeps you in "edgy" fashions and you can get "awesome", "bad ass" tattoos. How about you start sending some kind of positive message out there, other than the current one, which reads something like, "if your boyfriend beats your @ss, just party a lot and look really fashionable to distract everyone." We get it Rihanna, you are like, soooo over that whole beating thing. Sigh...

Anyone who knows me, knows I love a good shoot 'em up, knock 'em down action flick. Sherlock Holmes looks like it will deliver just that! It looks as though Robert Downey, Jr., Jude Law, and Rachel McAdams are a masterfully pieced together cast & Guy Ritchie is one of my favourite (underrated) directors (Snatch is one of my favourite movies of all time!). Confessions of a Career Girl: Episode 20

So maybe we all should have seen it coming.

The foiled attempts to stifle my inner gypsy. The makeshift rain attire fiascos. The occasional battles with workplace chauvinism. The lackluster adventures in office romance. &etc, etc, etc...

Maybe, deep down, I knew all along that my life as a Corporate Career Girl would be short-lived. Maybe, deep down, you knew it. Either way, if I haven't made it crystal clear yet, no, yesterday's entry wasn't figurative. Yes, I really did resign from my job. My last day will be next Friday...

Scary, right? Yeah, I won't even pretend that I'm not scared sh!tless. But I'm happy. Coming to work today, I felt... different. Everyone here has been, surprisingly, extremely supportive. It remains that I have nothing but positive sentiments towards this company. Like any other company in the corporate world, it has it's issues with gender inequalities and like any other company located in so conservative a market as Pittsburgh, it has it's issues with what I'll call fashion discrimination. But I have been incredibly lucky to have begun my journey here. If my heart was in banking, I wouldn't be leaving, it would be the perfect job!

But I have to do this. I need to do this. I'm glad I'm doing this.

So, needless to say, the "Confessions of a Career Girl" series will be ending come May 29th. Of course, that doesn't mean I won't still have many other confessions. You, my captive cyber-audience of friends, fellow bloggers, strangers, lurkers, and haters (I know y'all read too, lol) will be along for the entire ride. You will have front row seats on the journey to my dream.

Besides, something tells me achieving my dream may require first having a "Confessions of a Cocktail Waitress" series for a while, and that's bound to be entertaining... lol!

What happens to a dream deferred?

We all have dreams. When you're a kid, the possibilities are endless. They tell you that you can be anything that you put your mind to. Then you get a little older, and you are informed that "anything" has limitations. Reality is a lot more confining than that world in which our dreams and hopes live. Most of us put our more elusive dreams on a shelf in a little glass jar, somewhere where it is safe and out of reach, but still, in a see-through container that we may glance upwards and still see it when we are feeling hopeful or optimistic. Eventually, the glass dusts over. We grow up. We live in little boxes. We do the "smart" thing...

And we are left with our "what ifs".

Life is a series of crossroads. With every decision we can go down one path or another. We choose our paths and life shifts and transforms accordingly. We become different people than we may have been had we chosen an alternative. And one day, when we are older and wiser and our years are coming to an end, we have to live with the collective consequences of the choices that we once made. We will always ask ourselves, "what if?". What if we had gone down a different path as opposed to the one we chose? What if we had loved differently? What if we had lived differently? What if we had been differently?

About a month and a half ago, I met someone who offered me the opportunity of a lifetime. You can still, he said, walk down another path. I decided, in that moment, that I don't want to be asking myself "what if?" years from now.

While I have no idea where this new path may lead, while I'm afraid of the consequences of the life I'm choosing to begin to pursue, I can live with knowing that I didn't let my dreams die. That I flew with two healthy wings and landed wherever it is that I shall land.

So I smashed that little glass jar on my shelf. I resigned from my job. And I'm trekking across the country to the left coast, dream in hand, with all the hope of a child.

(H&M is pulling out the big guns in order to stay relevant and not be dwarfed by TopMan, no?) I don't like the studded jacket so much with those seersucker (?) pants. Furthermore, I don't think that it's an "every-mans" jacket, so please fellaz, assess yourself thoroughly and honestly before sliding that card at the register.

Letter to a Former Love

So did I mention that as of late one of my ex-"Him"s has been texting me?

The first time he did it, I automatically assumed something was up. He laughed it off, "Why can't I see how my ex girlfriend is doing from time to time?" he said.

Fair enough, right?

That was about 2 weeks ago. Now he's asking me if I'll come and visit him. This is where we have to pump our brakes.

Dear Ex-"Him",

I care about you deeply and I always will. But I can't visit you. If you're wondering why I "can't" it's because I simply don't want to.

I think about how you treated me, how you talked to me, how I allowed you to often bring out the worst in me. I think about your inability to love me the way I needed to be loved, and the way that I simply acquiesced to take from you whatever love it was that I could get. I think about how I elevated you to a pedestal in my life that you were not worthy to stand on, and how you used that to make me feel that I wasn't as intelligent, special, or worthy of respect as I am. I think about how you saw the energy and vitality that I possessed, and while it was what first attracted you to me, you tried to crush and destroy it. You and I had a long and complicated saga. We both did things we shouldn't have. We both said things we shouldn't have...

But it is over now, and I would like it to stay that way.

I remember the girl that I was when I was with you, and I didn't like her. She was spiteful. She was angry. She was mistrustful. And she doubted herself, her beauty, and her strength. When I left you, I left her as well, and emerged as something different even from the girl I was before we met.

So, while I wish you nothing but the best and we can text or speak or "check in" with one another from time to time, that's all we can do.

One of my best traits and, ironically, also one of my biggest flaws, is my propensity to be ridiculously optimistic in the face of adversity. If I wasn't that way, then I wouldn't have achieved half of the accomplishments that I have today. I wouldn't be on the verge of finally, finally picking up & setting off in the pursuit of my dreams... At the same time, if I wasn't that way I wouldn't have been betrayed by so many "friends" or stayed with a man I should never have been with for a day too many.

But life is circular like that.

There is a blessing in every lesson; I don't regret you. But I am over you.

When the picture of Kanye West decked out from head to toe in Louis Vuitton while his girlfriend, Amber Rose lay naked in his lap hit the internets, the blogosphere was all abuzz. Was it tasteful? Was it trashy? Why is she naked? Is she f*ckin for ads now? Did LV really put a naked stripper in one of its ads? etc, etc, etc...

VIBE Magazine reached out to the photographer, Steve Shaw, who broke it down for them:

According to Shaw, the shoot was “not for LV but for a magazine in Hong Kong called Prestige. We shot it at my home in Venice a few months ago. Amber was with Kanye and I asked her to be in a shot. He is wearing all LV clothes and it was to showcase the new line of shoes he has designed for LV, which are amazing! ... I just asked Amber to take off her clothes and she did (with Kanye’s permission, of course),” Shaw says, in his roguish British accent. “I have a certain way with the ladies."

The Life and Times...

On a return flight from Los Angeles, I sat next to the most adorable guy ever. Truth be told, I liked him because he reminded me of someone I've had an insanely irrational crush on for years, but no matter... Anyway, Airplane Boy (who shall hereafter be referred to as "AB") and I had incredible conversation. Admittedly, it was partly a product of time and circumstance-- who doesn't imagine meeting a great person on a plane instead of sitting next to a smelly fat person, right? So we exchanged numbers...

Well, he actually kept in touch. Last night he asked me to join him for dinner... And it was fun! He's a mathematician with a mad scientist for a father and an engineer for a brother. He's nerdy, a little odd, and has not one ounce of fashion sense. But he is so adorable! (Am I nutty for finding his quirkiness endearing?) And he's asked me to serve as his personal stylist once he starts the job he just received an offer for, so he'll be much easier to transform than those stuffy intellectual types who regard having fashion sense with disdain.

But who am I kidding right? I'll undoubtedly lose interest in a matter of months. I'm not even sure if I like him or I'm simply living out an affair with my longtime crush vicariously through his doppelganger.

Actually, I'm pretty confident that it's the latter.

That Miss Robyn Rihanna Fenty ran off to Barbados in order to avoid being subpoenaed by US courts in the trial involving Chris Brown. If Rihanna doesn't testify in court on Wednesday, then Breezy walks away scotch free. They also say that this is the reason why the police are holding her $1 million worth of jewelry-- to force her to return to retrieve it under the burden of all the late fees the perturbed jewelers are stacking on her.

It's not like Necole Bitchie to post unreliable sources (sometimes), so I think that on a scale of 1 to 10, this sits at an 8 in terms of believability.

As if it's not bad enough that I rolled into work on Monday morning only to discover that Twitter is now blocked from the workplace, I got more harrowing news today that signify that life is becoming less colourful by the minute:

Naomi Campbell is retiring from the runway!

Naomi Campbell is kicking off her heels for good after 25 years of strutting her stuff on catwalks.

The temperamental supermodel claims there are too many fashion shows and wants to settle down and start a family.

'It'll be 25 years next year. In terms of fashion shows, I don't really see myself doing every show everywhere,' the 38-year-old said. 'I'm a woman and I'd like to be a mother one day.'

Campbell added that she could be enticed back out of retirement to the catwalk – but only for the charities she supports, including Fashion For Relief and Sarah Brown's White Ribbon Alliance.

The fact that it's really been 25 years and Miss Campbell is still ripping the runway is definitely amazing! She looks not a day over 30! But still, this is a sad, sad day in the fashion industry. Nobody does ~~crazy~~ runway better than Naomi. Who will the world turn to now??

Rest assured, though. For now, we can still see Naomi on the cover of next month's V magazine.

"Diddy," he said, "thinks he's Gatsby." So right. I guess the whole "model search contest" thing is hot now, so of course Diddy is gonna do it. And use it as a chance to promote himself, his twitter page, Day 26, No Bitchassness tees, Last Train to Paris, Donnie Klang, and whatever else he is hawking to the public. Cuz that's how Diddy rolls. Good luck to whoever wins this, you will undoubtedly be used for publicity then disregarded shortly after. (But yes, I will still vote for you Dartel McRae, lol)

I'm sorry that you got caught up in the mean Bad Boy machine, but that's just the way the cookie crumbles. Happy Friday!

I arrived at work bright and early (surprisingly) after attending an average party last night with some of the girlies. Total waste of an outfit. Why do I keep doing this to myself? I know I'm in Pittsburgh and the most exciting thing I could possibly be attending is more than likely something thrown by people not yet graduated from college who live as faux local "celebrities", yet I insist on putting something cute on then acting like I didn't know I was going to be way too fashionable. smh...

In other news, today at approximately 2:30pm I will be embarking upon a 6-hour journey to the Big Apple. Why, you ask?? Why not??? Someone said road trip, and I'm always down for one of those :) Besides, maybe I'll finally make it to a Friday night Santos party house shindig...

Biggest "shocker" of the night: Aubrey O'Day is getting her own reality show & Diddy is going to soon start the search for Danity Kane 2.0. sigh... I mean, seriously? Even a simple child could have guessed that the cookie was gonna crumble this way. Diddy isn't even trying to hide the fact that all he cares about is publicity, popularity and ratings. He hawked his "No BitchAzzness" tees, promoted his Twitter page, chortled about how Making the Band was one of the highest rated shows, and told Aubrey she needs to let him get in on her upcoming reality show. Diddy doesn't care about band people. The End.
Jessica Lange and Drew Barrymore are supposedly going to be going up against each other for the Best Actress Emmy award because Lange refuses to step down and go for Best Supporting Actress instead. Well if this isn't art imitating life I don't know what is. Why won't Big Edie let Little Edie be great???

The lovely Jennifer Hudson is rumoured to be pregnant, y'all! "Sources" have confirmed this to Essence Magazine. While you may not find this tidbit of news to be f*ckery, I do. Whatever happened to first comes love, then comes marriage, and only then comes a baby in a baby carriage?? smh... Congratulations anyway I guess. It's still the Miracle of Life, even when it is out of wedlock.

Got that post-lunch itis?? Well, here's something to wake you up!!

This month's XXL Magazine features a very buff, weirdly photoshopped Eminem (what is the deal with his face? Looks odd...). I used to be ridiculously in love with Eminem. I mean, I knew all the words to every song from The Eminem Show album, my sister's boyfriend at the time used to call me "Slim Shady", my best friend bought me an Eminem wall calendar for my birthday that year (and yes, that was my favourite present), and I forced all of my girlfriends to go see 8 Mile with me the night it came out, midnight viewing! Yeah, it's safe to say that as a tween, I definitely used to stan for Em-- & "Stan" is still one of my fave songs!!!

But I digress... Em will be gracing not one, but two XXL covers for the June issue, and talking about his drug addiction, Proof's death, T.I., Lil Wayne, & Hip-Hop. The special collector's edition issue, which features Eminem posing as Marvel Comics' Punisher, will hit stands on May 5th. Two weeks later (May 19), Em's fifth studio album Relapse will be released.

Are you excited yet?? The above 8 celebs have all signed on to play roles in the Fey and Carell led movie, Date Night, which is apparently about a married couple who have the worst date ever.

According to Variety,

Wahlberg plays a successful and crazily buff securities expert who flirts with Fey's character. Franco portrays a not-too-bright conman and petty criminal. Meester is onboard as the couple's babysitter. Henson plays the one good cop who believes the couple is in danger, and Common portrays a villain. Wiig, who worked with Fey on "Saturday Night Live," rounds out the cast as the actress' best friend.

Directed by Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian's Shawn Levy, this is bound to be a hit.

The folks over at Bossip weren't feeling her "military-styled" jacket, which, if you're a fashion slag like myself, you would recognize from Balmain's Spring 2009 RTW. Christophe Decarnin's dramatic shoulder is going to be making a rampant appearance this season-- Rihanna was spotted last month in a look very similar to this one, and Mrs. V Beckham is always right on (if not a step ahead of) trend.

John Legend has forever ruined that phrase for me, I can't say it without wanting to sing it whilst hearing them d@mn ~~seagulls~~ birds chirping over piano keys & a sythesizer...

Anyhoo, I trust that you all had a good night's rest :) I myself slept like a baby since I went calorie-busting at the gym last night. I've been so lazy as of late and d@mmit, that is unacceptable! Thus, I decided that I will resume heading over to the gym to work on my fitness like my name is Fergie Ferg... much to my great chagrin, my newfound mutant breasts make running on the treadmill a little more than uncomfortable. Time for a new sports bra. And some duct tape.

My month long gym hiatus has definitely set me back! There's a little more thunder to my thighs. I had to call a cease fire in the battle of Jodie vs The Treadmill. Never a complete loss though! We both did damage to each other, mine in the form of 404 calories burned. Because I'm so motivated, you know? And the fact that the treadmill is located in the movie room only serves to motivate me further. Last Friday's movie was Will Ferrell's Semi-Pro. I almost fell off the treadmill laughing at one point. But last night's movie? Nights In Rodanthe, with Richard Gere (who at 59 is still a sex symbol... ok, that sounds gross now that I typed it out...) and Diane Lane. What the heck, right?? I do not want to see some sad, emotional love story that ends with death while I'm trying to motivate myself to run upwards of 3 miles!! smh...

At first glance, the movie is exactly what you expect it to be: the lovable underachieving security guard of questionable intelligence takes his job very seriously (perhaps too seriously), strives to be more in life, wants to get the really hot girl who also works in the mall, and faces some kind of obstacle that involves catching a bad guy, which, if he succeeds in doing, will make him a hero. We've all obviously seen that before (that other Mall Cop movie and a million other "good guy finishes first" types), so of course we are all rooting for Seth Rogen's Ronnie... But between the hysterics and random ridiculousness, you realize that Jody Hill is taking you for a ride you never anticipated you'd be on. Ronnie isn't really a good guy who happens to be a loser. He's actually racist, violent, disillusioned, and suffering from a mood disorder for which he heavily medicates. Throw a little bit of tragic failure into that and the movie plummets into a dark place that shouldn't really be funny at all as we watch Ronnie spiral downward in a manic ball of fire... but, you're still laughing. How on earth did Hill and Rogen manage to make you laugh your @ss off at the story of a guy who in reality we'd probably be kind of scared of and we'd sure as hell never root for?? I have no clue. You just have to watch.

Things to note: Aziz Ansari completely steals the scene every time he's on screen; no matter what role Ray Liotta plays he still seems like a gangster to me... also he has a scary face; Anna Faris + vomit + sex = imagery that will haunt me for years; and last but not least, in movie-land, it's OK to shoot perverts.

There's really nothing else to say except: go see the movie.

I was tempted to title this blog "Things That Should Not Exist".

I swear I'm not being a music-hater this morning, but faux-English "post punk/alternative/indie" bands with faux-English lead singers that sound EXACTLY like Lupe Fiasco with a (really bad) faux-English accent that make MySpace pages with disclaimers that Lupe Fiasco finances the band but is not the lead singer at all, even though he sounds exactly like him, simply should not exist.

I used to really like Lupe. I thought he was deep, insightful, and a game-changer. Part of hip-hop's new hope. But this whole "retiring after putting out 3 albums, talking about how hip-hop is coming to an end, and pretending to be English in a punk band" thing??

No Lupe. Just... No.

Ok... so I've heard a lot about Mr. Hudson. Since the heavily lauded hype that resulted from him being featured on KanYe West's 808s & Heartbreak, magazines and the internets have been abuzz about this soulful Oxford-grad who, along with the rest of his band (Mr. Hudson & The Library), was already a fixture in the hip-hop scene over in the UK, having worked with the likes of Sway and Dizzee Rascal. Now signed to G.O.O.D Music, Mr. Hudson's solo album is in the works.

I get that he's "different". I get that he has a great voice (though it's hard to tell through all the d@mn autotune on this song), as he's been compared to the likes of Sting. But, really?? This video left me scratching my head.

Maybe I'm not deep or artistic enough to recognize a "great" artist, but give me a freaking break here! I had high hopes up until the 1 minute mark: "Oh no I stubbed my toe/ Crack comes the pain like a bullet/ But at least it goes..." What the f*&# are you talking about, Mr. Hudson??

We hear so much hype about these artists, but they just seem to lyrically disappoint. The same can be said for KiD CuDi. It took me about 8 tries to listen to his mixtape, and I probably enjoyed 4, maybe 5 tracks. Out of 18. I feel like this is bandwagon fandom (these are KanYe's artists, so they must be hot, right??), and I just don't get it.

I'm waiting for Mr. Hudson to impress me. In some way. Yeah, I get that, oft times, the best lyrics make no sense at all. But there should be something else, something underlying in the music that touches its audience in some way. Something artistic about its nonsensical nature. With the likes of Hudson and CuDi, most times it just sounds like they put some sh!t together just because it rhymed and they couldn't think of anything else.

I'll say it again: I'm not yet impressed.

But who am I, right?

I fell asleep early last night (corporate america is draining the energy out of me!) and woke up at some ungodly hour this morning to a text from a friend sent hours earlier that simply said the following: "lol omg south park is owning kanye".

Now, I don't watch South Park, but Miss Info had the entire episode posted on her blog, so I figured I would check it out. Honestly, I wasn't that impressed. Somehow the often crass humor of South Park is lost to me, but I could at least recognize that they were, indeed, clowning KanYe West. I definitely chuckled a few times. Ok, maybe it was kind of hilarious.

Anyway, the video has since been posted and reposted all day today on the blogosphere, with most bloggers laughing or shaking their heads at the animated depiction of Yeezy's historical b!tchassness and the flamboyant illustration of his crew. And we were all waiting for the backlash--some rant on his blog about how South Park won't let him be great, or saying that he should have been allowed approval of the cartoon before it aired, or some other angry statement from the world's least humble artist...

I don't think anyone expected Ye to say the following in response:
